A recipe to make your coffee with a home espresso machine.

18g ground coffee
36ml water - 93°C
Extraction time should be between 28-32 seconds
(1 part coffee : 2 parts water)

A filter coffee using course grounds.

15g ground coffee
240ml water - 93°C
Extraction time should be 2 minutes 30 seconds - 3 minutes 30 seconds

METHOD //

  1. Pour 30ml of water onto the ground coffee.

  2. Stir lightly and wait for 20-30 seconds.

  3. Pour the remaining 210ml of water and stir to mix all the coffee grounds.

  4. Tip: use a long spoon to reach the bottom of the cafetiere.

  5. After 1 minute skim the foam and ground coffee from the top.

  6. Plunge the coffee and enjoy.

Stovetop/Mokapot

An Italian brewing method that produces an intense coffee.

16g ground coffee
90ml water - 70°C
Extraction Time should be 3 minutes

METHOD //

  1. Pour 90ml into the bottom chamber of the Mokapot and screw on the funnel section.

  2. Add 16g of ground coffee to the funnel and level, but don't tamp the grounds.

  3. Screw the Mokapot's spout tightly onto the top and place on a medium heat.

  4. Once extraction begins (a gurgling sound), remove from the heat and leave to let the coffee flow into the top chamber.

  5. Be careful as the Mokapot will be hot.

  6. Enjoy.

A filter coffee dripper that produces a lighter tea-like coffee.

20g ground coffee
420ml water - 93°C
Extraction Time should be 2 minutes 30 seconds

METHOD //

  1. Place the V60 paper into the filter and wet.

  2. Add the ground coffee to the filter and pour 60ml of hot water. This should take 10 seconds. Wait for 30 seconds for the coffee to bloom.

  3. Slowly pour 140ml over the grounds which should take another 20 seconds.

  4. Once the water has almost drained through add the remaining 120ml of water and wait until it is finished.

  5. If it takes longer than 3 minutes, remove the filter and coffee grounds so it doesn't over-extract.

Aeropress

A manual coffee maker forcing water through a paper filter.

16g ground coffee
250ml water - 86°C
Extraction Time should be 1 minute 30 seconds

METHOD //

  1. Place an Aeropress filter paper into the filter cap and rinse with hot water.

  2. Place the chamber upside down on top of the plunger so that the numbers are upside down.

  3. Add the ground coffee then pour 250ml of hot water evenly over the grounds. The water should come to the number 4 on the Aeropress.

  4. Using the stirrer, mix the grounds and water.

  5. After 1 minute flip the Aeropress, placing onto a cup and gently plunge.

  6. Enjoy.
